A fraction is a part or portion of something. It can also refer to one of two or more parties involved in a dispute, disagreement, or negotiation. In mathematics, it refers to a number that represents a part of a whole and is expressed as a/b, where "a" is the numerator (the top number) and "b" is the denominator (the bottom number). Fractions can be used to represent proportions, ratios or quantities.
