Osteosarcoma is a type of cancer that affects bone tissue, specifically the cells responsible for creating new bone matter. It typically occurs in the long bones of the body and can be found in areas such as the knee, upper arm or lower leg. Osteosarcoma usually develops during adolescence but can occur at any age. Treatment options include surgery to remove the affected tissue, followed by chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy depending on the stage of the cancer.
