But since this happened to me, I'm going to tell you that it's possible you are just a
bad querier.
Like every
average querier, all I did was include an opening, a hook and bio to follow the Query Letter Commandment.
That option would have short - circuited any but the most persistent
of queriers.
Considering how long Mr. Maass has been an agent, he's probably seen the whole gauntlet of weird / rude / crazy / occasionally amazing a hundred times over, and that his faith in the
average querier has probably worn down to nothing.
Being a bad
querier doesn't make you a bad writer; it just makes you a bad querier.
But as Hugh Howey pointed out, while aspiring trad - pubbers are querying agents, self - pubbers are putting their fledgling work into the marketplace, so they get counted in the stats and
the queriers don't.
