Definition of «aneurism»

An aneurysm is a weak or thin spot on a blood vessel wall that causes it to bulge, or balloon out. This can occur in any artery, but most commonly affects the main arteries in the brain (cerebral), the heart (aortic) and the largest artery in the body (abdominal). Aneurysms are dangerous because they can rupture, causing severe bleeding or even death.
