Definition of «biodiesel»

Biodiesel is a type of fuel that is made from renewable resources such as vegetable oils, animal fats or waste cooking oil. It can be used in diesel engines and is often blended with conventional diesel fuel to reduce emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. Biodiesel is considered to be a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional petroleum-based diesel because it produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions, reduces air pollution, and can help decrease our reliance on nonrenewable energy sources.
