Biotech crops refer to plants that have been genetically modified or engineered using biotechnology techniques. These modifications are made in order to improve certain characteristics such as resistance to pests, diseases and environmental stress; improved nutritional content; and tolerance to herbicides. The aim of developing these crops is to increase yield, reduce the need for chemical inputs, and improve overall agricultural productivity while also addressing food security concerns. Biotech crops include plants like Bt cotton, Roundup Ready soybean, and Golden Rice among others.
