Dysplasia is a medical term that refers to abnormal cell growth or development. It can occur in various parts of the body, including the cervix (cervical dysplasia), skin (actinic keratosis) and knee joints (articular cartilage). Dysplasia often occurs as a result of genetic mutations that disrupt normal cell division and growth. In some cases, it can progress to cancer if left untreated.
