Definition of «free points»

In basketball, free throws are shots that a player is awarded when they have been fouled by an opposing team member. These shots are taken from a designated spot on the court and do not require any defensive pressure. Free throws are worth one point each unless there's only a little time left in the game or if a player has committed their fifth foul, then it becomes two free throws.
