Global Hectare (GH) is a unit of measurement used to assess the total land area occupied by a company, organization or individual. It is calculated by dividing the total land area owned or leased by an entity by the number of hectares in a standard square kilometer. The term "global" is used because it takes into account land holdings in any part of the world, not just a specific country or region. The concept of Global Hectares was introduced by the non-profit organization, The Hector Foundation, to provide a more accurate and comprehensive measure of an organization's land footprint.
