A housefly is a common type of fly that belongs to the family Muscidae. They are typically found in and around human habitations, hence their name. Houseflies have a yellow-brown body with black spots on their wings and they measure about 6mm long. These flies feed on nectar and decaying organic matter but can also transmit diseases such as typhoid fever and dysentery due to their habit of landing on food and surfaces contaminated by human or animal waste.
