To hydrate means to add water or another solvent to a substance, typically a solid, in order for it to become a liquid. This process is also known as dissolving. When a substance absorbs water and becomes soft and pliable, this is called "hydration." Hydrating can be beneficial for our bodies - when we drink enough water, we are hydrating ourselves which helps with digestion, circulation, temperature regulation, and waste elimination.
