Mollusk refers to a type of invertebrate animal that belongs to the phylum Mollusca. These animals have soft, unsegmented bodies and usually possess a hard external shell made of calcium carbonate. They are characterized by having two pairs of sensory organs (eyes), a muscular foot, and a mantle that secretes their shells or other protective coverings. Mollusks include animals such as snails, clams, squids, octopuses, and slugs among others.
