A mooring is a temporary or permanent anchorage point for boats, ships or other watercraft. It typically consists of a buoy or other floating device attached to a fixed object such as a pier, wharf or shore, and used to secure a vessel by connecting it with a line or chain. Moorings can be found in marinas, harbors, rivers, lakes or coastal areas where boats are stored or docked for short periods of time.
