Motility refers to the ability of an organism or a cell to move and change its position. In biology, motility is often used in reference to single-celled organisms such as bacteria, which can propel themselves through their environment using flagella or cilia. Motile cells are able to move spontaneously and actively, while non-motile cells do not have the ability to move on their own.
