Otitis refers to inflammation or infection of the ear. It can affect both adults and children, but is more common in young kids due to their smaller Eustachian tubes which make them prone to middle ear infections. Otitis externa occurs when the outer ear becomes infected while otitis media happens when the inner ear gets affected by bacteria or viruses.
