The term "outer planets" refers to a group of four planets in our solar system that are located beyond the inner planets. These outer planets include Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. They are also known as the gas giants because they have large atmospheres and are composed mostly of hydrogen and helium. The outer planets are located at a greater distance from the sun than the inner planets and take longer to orbit around it.
