Outflow refers to the act or process of flowing outward, especially in a steady stream. It can also mean an instance of something moving away from its source or origin. In terms of water bodies such as rivers and lakes, it is the point at which the water flows out of the body of water into another watercourse, a lake or ocean. Outflow can also refer to the release of emotions or feelings in a steady stream, for example when someone talks about "getting things off their chest" as a way of releasing pent-up emotions. In economics, outflow refers to the money that is taken out of an investment fund such as a mutual fund or exchange traded fund (ETF).
