Pelvic pain refers to any discomfort or pain experienced in the area surrounding the pelvis. This can include the lower abdomen, hips, and groin region. Pelvic pain can be caused by a variety of conditions such as menstrual cramps, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, urinary tract infections, constipation or irritable bowel syndrome, pelvic inflammatory disease, interstitial cystitis, fibroid tumors, and muscle strains. The severity of the pain can range from mild to severe, and it may be constant or come and go. Treatment for pelvic pain depends on the underlying cause and can include medication, physical therapy, surgery, or other interventions.
