The term "powertrain options" refers to the different types of engines, transmissions and drive systems available for a vehicle. It includes all components that generate power and transmit it to the wheels in order to move the car. This can include traditional gasoline or diesel engines as well as newer technologies such as hybrid electric powertrains, plug-in hybrids, battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCVs). The "powertrain" is essentially the combination of all these components working together to provide power to the vehicle.
