A quadrant is a division or section of something, often used in reference to a four-part division of a larger area. In mathematics and geometry, it refers specifically to one of the four sections into which an imaginary square is divided by two perpendicular lines drawn within it. Each of these sections forms a right angle triangle with its hypotenuse along one side of the square and the other three sides forming the legs of the triangles. These quadrants are often used in calculations involving angles, such as trigonometry or geometry problems.
