Salted water is a solution in which salt has been dissolved into water. The term refers to any liquid mixture containing sodium chloride, commonly known as table salt, and water. Salt is added to water for various purposes such as cooking, preserving food or treating wounds. When salt is mixed with water it increases the salinity of the solution making it suitable for a variety of applications.
