A smasher is a person who engages in or enjoys playing sports, particularly those that involve hitting an object with force. This term can be used to describe someone who participates in activities such as tennis, squash, badminton, and table tennis among others. In these games, the objective of one player may be to hit a small ball back and forth over a net while trying to make it land within a designated area or "court." The other player's job is to try and stop that from happening by hitting the ball back with equal force in an attempt to win points. A smasher, therefore, refers to someone who has mastered the skill of hitting the ball hard and accurately, often being able to score points quickly or "win" a game.
