A soap dish is a small, usually ceramic or plastic container that holds bar soap while it is being used. It has a depression in which the soap can rest and be easily reached when taking a shower or bath. The purpose of a soap dish is to keep the soap clean and dry so that it lasts longer and prevents water from accumulating on surfaces where bacteria could grow, thus promoting hygiene.
