A splitter is a device or mechanism that separates, divides or distributes something into two or more parts. In everyday language it can refer to anything from a kitchen utensil used for cutting food into smaller pieces, to an electrical circuit component that directs current in different directions, to even being used as a term in sports such as tennis where the ball is hit so fast that it causes the opponent no time to react.
