Qantas still offers 2 -2-2 seating on its A380s and a mix of 2 - 2 and 2 -3-2 seating on its ageing 747s while United, despite operating the newest aircraft type on the route (787 - 9) also only offers a 2
-2-2 seating layout.

The airline has decided to go for a 1 -2-1 and a 2
-2-2 layout for their
seats and that makes some
seats in the Business Class cabin a lot more desirable than others — especially for solo travelers.
The older Business Class cabin offers a 2
-2-2 layout with angle - flat
seating (i.e the
seat folds out into a 180 degree bed but it's not quite parallel to the floor) while the newer Business Class cabin looks very similar (it's still a 2
-2-2 layout) but the
seats are true lie - flat.
No new Business Class
seat is expected from Lufthansa for a few years so the A350 is expected to come with the current Lufthansa Business Class
seat in a 2
-2-2 layout (so no all - aisle - access).
On the Boeing 767's that run the Tokyo — Hong Kong you'll find JAL Business Class recliner
seats in a 2
-2-2 cabin
layout and on the 737's that operate on the shorter Tokyo - Seoul route you'll find the same.
On their Boeing 747 aircraft, most
seats are arranged in a 2
-2-2 layout, which means only the middle section
seats both have aisle access.
On the Airbus A380, business class is located in the upper deck and is arranged in a 2
-2-2 layout with direct aisle access for both middle
seat passengers.
The new QSuites will be fitted to the Airbus A350 - 1000 for which Qatar Airways is the launch customer but we're also going to see a rapid (and much needed) retrofit of these
seats to Qatar's 777 - 300ER aircraft which currently offer a 2
-2-2 cabin
layout that lags significantly behind what the airline already offers on its 787 Dreamliners, its A380s and its existing A350s.
The airplane is configured with 6 Sleeper First Class
seats in a 2
-2-2 layout.
The new Premium Economy cabin is set out with a 6 - across
layout (2
-2-2) and offer
seats with a 38 ″ set pitch (leg room) and 19 ″ of
seat width — the same dimensions Delta has chosen for its Premium Economy product which will debut next year.
The Boeing 777 - 200ER business class cabins are configured with 48 flat - bed
seats in a staggered, forward facing
layout, alternating 1 -2-1 and 2
-2-2.
