While the 3rd party support for the system was just never there,
the 1st party support, while slow, had quality.
Whatever they may have coming 2 - 4 years from now does not excuse the last couple years of virtually
no 1st party support beyond their staple franchises.
It's not Nintendos fault that Sony and Microsoft suck when it comes to
1st party support / games and have to rely on 3rd party support all time.
And don't forget, the ps4 is way more powerful than the Vita, but it's looking to get excellent 3rd and
1st party support.

Outside of the underwhelming 3rd
party support, throw in
1st and 2nd
party titles Sonic Lost World, Lego Marvel, Mario 3D, Wii FIt U, Donkey Kong, Smash, Monolith's X, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart and a brand new Zelda title and Nintendo will be looking very good by next year to 3rd
party devs.
Good launch games but little to no
1st and 3rd
party support until summer when a Resident Evil port gets released that everyone ends up buying for the second time.
Nintendo's NX (and the rapid iterations of the DS handhelds) are prime examples of this concept - the Wii - U had a phenomenal
1st -
party attach rate, but the console isn't selling enough to make such a consistent approach to
1st -
party quality into a large enough source of profit... so they relegate the console to Gamecube status, scale - back
support and go to work on creating their next phenomenon - all within a year or two.
Another way to look at it is, if you have great third
party support, they you can make money on software sells without having to foot the bill for all the money required for
1st party game development.
And you know what's interesting about what Jim said, PS4 is the best place to play, with the best
support for
1st, 2nd and 3rd
party support, and there is still PSX to go, for more new game announcement, NOW that will truly be an interest time, when MS keeps talking about power and SONY just keeps bringing out those high quality games.
Name me one
1st party PS4 game that launched after Pro that doesn't currently have Pro
support.

No one mentions the X1S / OGX1 because MS convienantly ignores it, because it allows them to ignore how they haven't
supported it with much quality

OTOH, if one didn't want to spend more money on a mid-gen, then the OGPS4 still offers up a better experience in terms of graphics and performance over the X1S, so it'd probably still be the go - to console for many... mostly because of the power difference between the OGPS4 and OGX1, and the fact that Sony has more compelling unique software to choose from, on top of more
support across the board from
1st, 2nd, and 3rd
party content.

1st party games will be up there because there is no possible way that that can be a viable way to
support the production or see a return on investment for such games.
Specifically, I used to
support not only
1st party publishers but also developers... you know, and also the people who needed useful content creation and development tools and actual hands on help too.

support in Uncharted 4 like you did Uncharted 3?
Can they keep up the momentum and really make a winner out of the Switch or will the the

Also, the 3DS is doing very well, both in hardware sales and

1st party studios and they're all working on PS4 games.
