ARCHAEOLOGY Collections include approximately 75,000 archaeological specimens from 200 sites encompassing the Santa Barbara area and the Northern Channel Islands representing all major periods of prehistory, from excavations by David Banks Rogers and Phil C. Orr during 1923 - 1968.
In addition to select artifacts from the 36,000 - object Fort Orange
archaeology collection, the exhibition will include film footage from the 1970 excavation and information gleaned from four decades of historical and archaeological research, including renderings of the fort by historical artist Len Tantillo.
The Archaeology collection includes artefacts from various cultures and periods: Neolithic, ancient Israel, Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Classic Greece, the Roman Empire, Muslims and Crusaders are the main themes presented.

archaeology), the commission would enable the artist to make a new film that discloses the different taxonomic systems that have been employed by and shaped the two institutions.
Furthermore, the museum's

archaeology, architecture, design, and decorative arts.
Price's commission will explore the archives and

archaeology), looking particularly at photographs of artefacts and documents used historically by curators, anthropologists and archaeologists working in the field, while simultaneously engaging with the social and psychological implications of digital technologies.
