We have noted that the type of
aberrant behavior exhibited by hypothyroid
dogs tends to be typical of the behavioral problems seen for its breed, or predominant breed, rather than hypothyroidism producing a specific behavioral problem.
Several owners also report dramatic resumption of previous
aberrant behaviors if even a single pill is missed or not swallowed by the
dog.
The major categories of
aberrant behavior [are] aggression (40 % of cases), seizures (30 %), fearfulness (9 %), and hyperactivity (7 %); some
dogs exhibited more than one of these
