This is why discussion
about breastfeeding, defeating the myths, letting our friends, our sisters, our daughters know that we are there (and others, LCs,
LLL, etc.) to give them support long * before * there's a baby and the rush of hormones and the need to feed a hungry little mouth.
If you are worried
about your milk supply and whether your baby is getting enough milk, see an
LLL Leader or IBCLC for a full assessment.
The
LLL website provides advice
about dealing with nursing issues, mother - to - mother forums, information
about getting one - on - one attention from a La Leche counselor, podcasts, and publications
about breastfeeding and the law in the United States and around the world.
LLLI and each local
LLL group can be a valuable source of support and information for parents
about four Thematic Areas.

Over the years, mothers who have used both styles have made comments

about tandem nursing and that women could breastfeed two children (and sometimes more!)

Maybe connect w / a local
LLL or other natural parenting network, or if you are really scared
about losing your footing, maybe contact a local WIC clinic and offer to do a cloth diapers class like once a quarter?
But it has been my choice and I don't feel bad

Women that are
about to nurse for the first time should definitely try to connect with their
LLL chapter.
I think more
LLL leaders need to be informed
about IGT, because they all told me I wasn't doing enough, that EVERY mom can breastfeed.
Further education is needed by lactation consultants, the
LLL, general practitioners and women in general
about insufficient glandular tissue — not every woman can breastfeed and those who can not need to feel supported by the breastfeeding community.
When I talked
about this with our local
LLL leader, she kindly brought Nursing Your Toddler to our next meeting.
By that point I'd gone to a few
LLL meetings and had met a few women who were nursing toddlers, so I was at least familiar with the idea, even though I wasn't sure
about my own plans.

We invited all of the moms, dads, Leaders, community members, and the children too to think
about the words or phrases they would use to describe their positive experiences and associations from being a part of the
LLL community.

In 2003 I accredited as an
LLL Leader and I became the reference for
LLL France for mothers who wanted to know
about breastfeeding after surgery.
At
LLL we talk
about mothering through breastfeeding, and I finally understood what that meant.
I continued to go to
LLL meetings, and when we moved to a new country and community when our daughter was
about eight months old, the very first thing I did was to find the local
LLL group and attend a meeting.

I'm glad to see that La Leche League is referenced here as an early source for attachment parenting - I clearly recall listening to Dr. Sears, back in the early 80's state repeatedly that everything he knew
about breastfeeding and mothering he learned from his
LLL wife, Martha.

LLL propaganda (they really pissed me off with that weaning by abandonment thing, can ya tell?).
