Not exact matches
Although these
Abrahamic traditions share a lot in common, from their stories of shared ancestries, to their patriarchal roots, to various figures and prophets like Jesus, Moses, the Angel Gabriel, and so on, many understand these
faith traditions as rivals.
But it is a
tradition lost to the waxing and waning of time, no longer marked by the daughters of the
Abrahamic faiths.
More important, one can hope that all of us in the
Abrahamic traditions — Jews, Christians and Muslims — can embrace the hopeful word offered by Pope Benedict in his lecture at Regensburg:
faith and reason are coordinates; religion and violence are contradictions.
They can be open to a great deal, but it does not seem they can be open to the ultimate claims of the
Abrahamic traditions about
faith in God.
When members of the
Abrahamic faiths have encountered what seemed good and true in other
traditions, they have typically held that this, too, was the work of God.
