The diptych of two oil on canvas paintings was purchased through a
gift from Jacksonville Women's Leadership and Museum
acquisition funds.

More recently, the notable
gifts of
funds from the Contemporary and Modern Art Council have contributed toward the
acquisition of significant artworks including examples by Dan Flavin, William Kentridge, Yinka Shonibare, and Kara Walker.
The space's opening was
funded in large part by the Tate's recent
acquisition (part - sale, part -
gift) of some 12,000 photobooks from Parr's personal collection.

This group also helps to
fund acquisition - related expenses, including the shipment of the Andrew Wyeth's River Cove (1958), a recent
gift made by David Rockefeller in memory of his son, Dr. Richard Rockefeller.
The design and construction of the new building, along with the
acquisition of land for the sculpture garden, has been
funded entirely by a major capital
gift from Irma and Norman Braman.
At the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation he has contributed to a discretionary curators»
fund for
acquisitions, which he established as a
gift to the Foundation.

The Collections
Fund at Frieze is designed to support the
acquisition of significant contemporary works worth up to # 50,000 to be
gifted to Contemporary Art Society Museum Members across the UK.
The vast majority of the prints are
gifts of discerning art collectors Martha and Jim Sweeny of St. Petersburg or museum
acquisitions made possible by
funds from the couple.
The
acquisition fund has also received a $ 25,000
gift from the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Trust.
The
acquisition of Robert Adams's master prints was made possible through a
gift from Saundra B. Lane, a grant from the Trellis
Fund, and the Janet and Simeon Braguin
Fund.
Other significant
acquisitions and
gifts of South and Southeast Asian art over the past few decades have included a Leti mouth mask, a Mentawaian sacred carving (jaraik), and a male Batak figure, all purchased by The Eugene and Margaret McDermott Art
Fund, Inc.; an Iban mask,
gift of Albert and Elissa Yellin; and a figurative Timor door,
gift of Diane Ansberry Rahardja and Andyan Rahardja and Family in honor of Louise Steinman Ansberry.
[xxxvi] Noah Goldowsky was an influential art dealer who was instrumental in facilitating the
acquisition of de Kooning's Excavation for the Art Institute (the painting was purchased through the Mr. and Mrs. Frank G. Logan Purchase Prize
Fund; restricted
gifts of Edgar J. Kaufmann, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Noah Goldowsky, Jr.).
Its
acquisition was made possible by a generous
gift from the Richard S. Zeisler
Fund.

acquisitions include «Holy Virgin Mary» (1996) by Chris Ofili, a
gift from billionaire hedge
fund manager Steve Cohen that set an artist record at auction for the British artist, and «Sweet Thang (Lynn Jenkins)» (1970) by Barkley L. Hendricks, a
gift from Marie - Josee and Henry Kravis in honor of Jerry Speyer.
Given by Hamilton E. (Tony) James in honor of his late father, the grant also includes a potential future
gift of $ 500K in matching
funds for the
acquisition or commission of other major works.
