In addition to the daily feed, shelter and medical care provided to each pet at our shelter, OC Animal Care strives to be proactive in placing pets
by offering monthly
adoption events, working with hundreds of nonprofit rescue groups and encouraging our community members to become volunteers and foster
caretakers.
All of our work, from
adoptions to humane education, is aimed at alleviating animal suffering in Humboldt County
by providing people with the knowledge needed to be responsible, compassionate
caretakers for our animal companions.
(a) The animal care and control division or its designee, in order to encourage the stabilization of the free - roaming cat population in the city, may: (1) Trap any free - roaming cat in a humane manner; (2) Have the cat surgically sterilized, ear - tipped, and vaccinated against rabies
by a licensed veterinarian; and (3) Release the cat to animal care and control for
adoption or other disposition in accordance with law, or to a colony
caretaker who will maintain the cat as part of a managed colony of free - roaming cats.
She works closely with dog owners,
caretakers and trainers to develop a plan for each session to fit the patient's needs.While she has a knack for sensing and evaluating each dog for what it needs, she has further honed her skills
by volunteering at Homeward Pet
Adoption Center to reduce stress and anxiety of their clientele while they transition to their forever homes.
