Aero Peek is a new feature in Windows 7.
Windows 7's main new interface feature was the redesigned taskbar, featuring the translucent Aero look, thumbnail previews with live content, Jump Lists of recently - opened files and
Aero Peek for minimising open application windows to view the desktop.
Aero Peek is a new feature introduced in Windows 7.
If
Aero Peek is off and you want to enable it, but the option is grayed out, that means
Aero Peek is disabled in the System Properties.
To make
the Aero Peek display instantly, just enter 0 (zero) in the «Value data» box (which works fine in hex too).
The procedures to disable
Aero Peek are the same in Windows 7, 8, and 10, except where noted.
Aero Peek is a feature that's been available in Windows since Windows 7, and is on by default (except in Windows 8).
There's a simple little registry hack that will change the amount of time between hovering your mouse over the Show Desktop button in the lower right - hand corner of the Taskbar, and
the Aero Peek display showing up.
If you don't want to use
Aero Peek, it can easily be disabled in several ways.
If the «Peek at desktop» option is grayed out,
Aero Peek is off, even if the option is checked.

To use
Aero Peek, move your mouse over the Show Desktop button on the far right side of the Taskbar.
Remember, once you've applied the instant
Aero Peek hack or restored the default value, log out of your account and log back in or restart explorer.exe for the change to take effect.

On the Visual Effects tab, check the «Enable Peek» box in Windows 10 («Enable
Aero Peek» in Windows 7) to enable the
Aero Peek feature and make the option available again.
The quickest way to disable
Aero Peek is to move your mouse to the far right side of the Taskbar, right - click on the Show Desktop button, and then select «Peek at desktop» from the popup menu.
Aero Peek is one of the more useful new features in Windows 7... just move your mouse to the taskbar for half a second, and everything else hides so you can see the desktop or application window.
Now you can enable
Aero Peek by turning on or checking one of the same options that we previously used to disable
Aero Peek.
The Show Desktop button is very narrow and hard to see in Windows 10, but if you just make sure to move your mouse to the extreme right side of the Taskbar,
Aero Peek will work.
(Note that it's now referred to as Peek — not
Aero Peek, as it's called on Windows 7.)
