The study included examination of 51 years of
data from 85
air -
temperature sites and 129 stream - water
temperature sites throughout the bay watershed.
Doug Smith at the UK Met Office fed key
data such as ocean
temperatures,
air pressure and wind speeds for every year
from 1960 to 1995 into DePreSys, a model already used to predict weather a decade ahead.
We used

Nathaniel Johnson and Shang - Ping Xie at the University of Hawaii studied satellite and rain - gauge
data from the last 30 years and found that sea surface
temperatures in the tropics now need to be about 0.3 °C higher than they did in 1980 before the
air above rises and produces rain (Nature Geoscience, DOI: 10.1038 / ngeo1008).
The study, which used
data from the United States and China, is one of the first to investigate the interaction between
air quality and the number of stroke cases (prevalence) along with the potential effect of
temperatures on the association.
Simple devices lined the computer racks, recording and transmitting
data from air flow and
temperature.
These devices would record everything
from air pressure and
temperature to microbial content, and the
data would be relayed instantly to the laptops of people who can make decisions based on what they are seeing.
Because atmospheric conditions such as wind and
temperature can greatly affect particulate - matter measurements, researchers
from EPIC - India and the Evidence for Policy Design initiative at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, gathered
data from air - quality monitors in New Delhi and placed monitors in three adjacent cities as a control.

(1) In addition to the
data of the near - surface
temperatures, which are composed of measurements
from weather stations and sea surface
temperatures, there is also the microwave
data from satellites, which can be used to estimate
air temperatures in the troposphere in a few kilometers altitude.
The team combined this
data with meteorological models of the
temperatures, winds, and movement of
air masses
from the same time period, and then used a statistical method known as geostatistical inverse modeling to essentially run the model backward and determine the methane's origin.

According to
data from the World Health Organization, rising
temperatures on the planet are killing off the equivalent of a mid-sized city every year; about 150,000 annual deaths can be attributed to global warming,
from causes including heat waves,
air pollution, infectious disease, food safety and production, flooding and more.
If you can point me to a source of complete annual
data for surface, upper
air and deep ocean
temperatures from the HadCM2 and / or GFDL (R30b?)
However, there was one post yesterday featuring a photo of a weather station positioned near an
air - conditioner along with the
data series
from that particular station showing a jump in
temperature.
The code currently starts
from the annual - mean
data for the surface, upper -
air, and deep - ocean
temperatures that were extracted
from the MIT IGSM model output files.
The hybrid method used by Cowtan and Way (2013) fills in missing
data (both land
air and sea surface
temperature) using lower troposphere
temperature data from UAH.
I've been looking at the Hansen material which involves tropical oceans and have had occasion to review some of the
temperature data sets, including Agudelho and Curry, which is an interesting and useful comparison of satellite and surface trends — a topic in the

Haimberger, Leopold, Christina Tavolato, Stefan Sperka, 2008: Toward Elimination of the Warm Bias in Historic Radiosonde
Temperature Records — Some New Results
from a Comprehensive Intercomparison of Upper -
Air Data.
An analysis of
data pertaining to the period 1861 — 1986 reveals that (1) a 1 °C rise in the mean annual
air temperature of the British Isles has historically been associated with a 35 % drop in the percentage of days that the United Kingdom has experienced cyclonic flow, and (2) a 2 °C increase in the mean annual
air temperature over the sea to the north has typically been matched by a 60 % drop in the percentage of days that the isles have experienced cyclonic flow originating
from that source region.
Other
data sources were investigated, including the new Berkeley land - ocean
temperature data, the MERRA weather model reanalysis, and satellite radiometer datasets
from AIRS and AVHRR.
«Major improvements include updated and substantially more complete input
data from the ICOADS Release 2.5, revised Empirical Orthogonal Teleconnections (EOTs) and EOT acceptance criterion, updated sea surface

A study using
data from Polar drifting ice buoys showed that near surface
air temperatures over the pack ice are relatively homogenous, with a CLS (correlation length scale) of 900-1000 km, see (Rigor 2000).
One of the new adjustments we are applying is extending the corrections to ship
data, based on information derived
from night marine
air temperatures, up to the present (we had previously stopped in the 1940s).
Chylek and coworkers analysed historical
data on tropical near - surface
air temperatures from the University of Alabama, US, and carbon dioxide levels
from the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii, for the years 1960 — 2016.
To clarify, land
temperature anomalies are recorded as surface
air temperature, but ocean
temperature records are a more complex function that I believe also incorporates
data from the water surface itself.
The upper panel shows the
air temperature at the summit of the Greenland Ice Sheet, reconstructed by Alley (2000)
from GISP2 ice core
data.

In contrast, meteorological
data collected
from three nearby coastal stations (Brevoort Island, Cape Dyer, and Resolution Island) between 1950 and 1992 indicated that the mean minimum and maximum
air temperatures for the month of April are normally 10 - 20 °C cooler than the averages we recorded at our camp.
«The
data are very strong that the planet is warming, as shown by analyses by NASA, NOAA, the Berkeley Earth group and others, by
data from thermometers in the
air including those well away
from cities, thermometers in the ocean and in the ground, taken up by balloons and looking down
from space, and changes in
temperature - sensitive snow and ice and plants and animals,» said Alley.
Using
data from 765,000 survey respondents in the United States
from 2002 to 2011, coupled with nighttime
temperature data, the researchers found that higher nighttime
temperatures are associated with self - reported sleep problems, with the largest effects seen during summer and among lower - income and elderly subjects (who may not have easy access to
air conditioning).
Similarly, in a study of
air temperature and CO2
data obtained
from Dome Concordia, Antarctica for the period 22,000 - 9,000 BP — which time interval includes the most recent glacial - to - interglacial transition — Monnin et al. (2001) found that the start of the CO2 increase lagged the start of the
temperature increase by 800 years.
The statistical manipulation of raw measurement
data of CO2 concentration in
air from both within polar ice and atop a volcano in the middle of the pacific requires no less scrutiny by independent expert statisticians than the
temperature analyses warranted.
Note that the datasets show different quantities; in the sea ice zone the GISTEMP, M10 and CHAPMAN
data represent
air temperature (though CHAPMAN
air temperatures are inferred
from SST input
data); north of the sea ice edge the M10 and CHAPMAN
data represent
air temperature while GISTEMP represents SST; MSU represents tropospheric - average
temperatures everywhere.
According to
data from the Salekhard weather station the recent mean
air summer
temperature was 0.9 °C higher and winter was 1.2 °C higher than between 1883 and 1919; and the amount of precipitation also increased by 32 mm in summer and by 46 mm in winter.
There seem to be inconsistencies in REA16 between different estimates of the bias resulting
from use of the difference method and blended
air and SST
temperature data.
We use isotope
data from Zachos et al. [4], which are improved over
data used in our earlier study [5], and we improve our prescription for separating the effects of deep ocean
temperature and ice volume in the oxygen isotope record as well as our prescription for relating deep ocean
temperature to surface
air temperature.
Data is used
from at least 30 years and include... Daily high and low
temperatures Amount of rainfall Wind speed and direction Humidity
