This means you can purchase directly from an
airline or through a travel
site selling airfare (e.g., Orbitz, Kayak, etc.).
These are «meta search» fare
sites, and although they don't offer quite the travel date flexibility as some others do, they often include fares that the
airlines sell only on their own websites.
Major tourism
sites are open to the public,
airlines have resumed flights, tour operators in many of the main source markets have restarted
selling holidays, and governments have updated their travel advisories to reflect the unfolding situation.
They also
sell air plus hotel packages that usually cost less than buying separately and they sometimes have fares that are much lower than the same flights and dates
sold directly by the
airline sites (I recently saw fares on Priceline to South Africa on Dutch
airline KLM that were hundreds less than if bought on KLM.com and fares on Delta to Italy that were much cheaper on Expedia than on Delta.com).
