chart and exceptional service in all cabins, ANA is also a Star Alliance member and transfer partner
with the Amex Membership Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest programs.
SkyMiles is the loyalty program that many love to hate, and this chorus of negativity has only swelled
with the
airline's most recent changes (including removing
award charts from its website and expansion of its basic economy fares).
On top of the better
award chart, Alaska
Airlines also allows you to book stopovers which makes it easy to see multiple destinations
with one booking.
Unfortunately, you can't use US Airways miles
with the American
Airlines award chart yet.
But under a flexible
award chart, that same business - class seat to Europe is only 125,000 miles, or even less
with some
airlines.
If you book business class on Japan
Airlines with Asia Miles and your booking includes a connection on American
Airlines (or another Oneworld carrier), the booking will fall under a different
award chart.
Often
award prices are the same regardless of which
airline you fly within the carrier's alliance or how many connections you make, so look around if you don't see
award availability right away or consider accumulating miles
with a different carrier in the same alliance if it has more a better
award chart.
Alaska has a separate
award chart for each partner and the rates often differ considerably from those available by booking directly
with the partner
airline.

award charts this is one crazy route to research.
With this in mind, British Airways»
award chart provides a great option to book nonstop economy class
award tickets from the West Coast to Hawaii on both American
Airlines and Alaska
Airlines.
With a regional - based
award chart, which is what the major domestic
airlines use, it doesn't matter how far you want to fly as long as it's in the same geographic region.
Since Frontier does not share mile earning or redemption
with any partner
airlines, its
award chart is very straight - forward.
They also recently announced a partnership
with Singapore
Airlines, but have not yet released an
award chart.
And Delta has done much to erode trust in recent years, most importantly by eliminating
award charts and becoming famous for devaluing the Skymiles program
with no notice (for example, by charging significantly more Skymiles to fly a partner
airline within 21 days of departure).
Thanks to their 2011
award chart «devaluation» that converted Avios into a distance - based redemption program, it's usually advantageous to book American
Airlines, US Airways, and Alaska
Airlines flights that are less than 1,150 miles in each direction
with Avios instead of the actual miles of the carrier.
The worst values
with HawaiianMiles come when using those miles to book partners
with disadvantageous
award charts, such as ANA, American
Airlines and Korean Air, which charge significantly more miles for the same routes than Hawaiian does.
I suggest always confirming
with the actual
award charts or mileage calculators found on the official website of the
airlines.
Singapore
Airlines just dropped a devaluation on its own
award chart although it came
with the removal of surcharges, so it wasn't a total loss.
You can fly any
airline in the Star Alliance (like United)
with ANA or Aeroplan miles, and they have some
award chart gems.
If you transfer Starpoints to an
airline with high value
award charts, you'll get unparalleled value.
Korean Air is one of those odd partners not many travelers are familiar
with, but the
airline's
award chart is quite lucrative for those
with Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
The new
chart indicated that, from 1 October 2015, earning rates for flights taken on British Airways and credited to the American
Airlines AAdvantage program would be more in line
with what British Airways
awards its Executive Club members.
It's hard to know what is a discount these days
with Delta since the
airline made the sneaky decision to delete
award charts altogether.
However, you will need to become familiar
with the Alaska
Airlines award chart to recognize which flights are available when redeeming Avios.
The recent ease
with which the
airline announced changes that makes it uncompetitive
with its fellow legacy US
airlines shows that American isn't scared of being an outlier, and a management team that thinks like that is more than capable of yet another
award chart devaluation.

award charts being as welcome as a bout of botulism, you may be wondering why I'm writing a post about purchasing AAdvantage Miles.
Alaska's
award chart for American
Airlines includes American's off - peak rates, but
with the added benefit of two free stopovers per roundtrip.
For each partner, they use a different
award chart, and one of their best offerings is
with Brussels
Airlines.

airline and every region, but it has a lot of good values.
While I don't do this because I already have lots of miles, some people find this an easy way to get miles
with programs that have generous
award charts like Singapore
Airlines KrisFlyer or Alaska
Airlines Mileage Plan.
Even though United
Airlines doesn't provide a standard off - peak
award chart, I find that they're pretty good about promoting their
awards with discounted rates.
