get is a redesigned version of the Audi
Allroad, which is essentially an A4 Avant with a slightly higher ride height and some extra body cladding.
We switch on the
Allroad's front and rear fog lights before crawling forward,
getting out every few hundred feet to lift and heave particularly gnarly stones; the heated steering wheel, part of the $ 500 cold - weather package, is now much appreciated.
The
Allroad has such potential to be a killer sleeper car given the 2.7 T. I would probably would never
get to, but would want to change out a few bits on it to give it a more sporty feel.
We still wish the U.S. market
got Audi's A4 wagon, but this butched - up, crossover - like
Allroad Quattro fills the void where the A4 Avant would go.

The Subaru Outback, Audi A4
Allroad and Volvo V60 Cross Country are worth a look if you've
got a bit more money to spend, though.

allroad.
We don't
get the TourX here, so we'll have to live vicariously through our American neighbours, who will
get to enjoy a car conceived to compete against the Volvo V60 XC, Audi A4
Allroad, and Subaru Outback, but that bests all of those in terms of interior space.
The 2017 Audi Q7, Audi A4, and A4
Allroad will be the first models to
get this new technology.
Audi's new A4
Allroad will
get first dibs on this new quattro all - wheel - drive system with ultra technology, although it's unclear if the company is going to offer this as a standard feature or as an added option.
If you want a more powerful, performance - tuned version of the A4 you can
get the S4 variant, and Audi also sells a crossover SUV called the
Allroad, which is based on the A4 station wagon (see our separate reports).
With so many exciting features to try out and a turbocharged engine to put to the test, the 2016 Audi
allroad will definitely be able to
get your heart pumping.
The closest North Americans can
get to an Audi wagon is the A4
Allroad, but the latter is technically a crossover any other day of the week.
But then things
get interesting for the
Allroad.
For a while there I was hopeful that we would see some more fuel efficient family ski mobiles here, but lately all the wagons (Audi
Allroad Quattro, Audi A6, VW Passat, BMW 5 Series, etc) seem to be disappearing and
getting replaced with larger gas - guzzling SUVs.
(We
got the
Allroad properly muddy and it seemed to enjoy every moment of it.)
I was also annoyed by a few nitpicky things such as the
Allroad's aggressive side sills, which made it difficult to avoid
getting mud on the back of my pant legs whenever I exited the vehicle at the day's various stops.
The
Allroad adds a unique Offroad mode that adjusts the adaptive suspension for better offroad performance, locks the quattro ultra system into its all - wheel drive mode and disables the Audi Presense forward collision system, letting drivers take full advantage of approach and departure angles and
get closer to obstructions (such as trees along a tight path) without being bothered by constant alerts or automatic braking.
But whatever the
Allroad Shooting Brake Concept previews — and we'll have a better idea next week when it's revealed at Detroit — it comes with quattro all wheel drive and
gets some form of electric propulsion as it's wearing an e-tron badge.
If earlier this year we saw the Audi Prologue Avant concept, at Geneva, this time we
get to see a new member of the Prologue concept range, namely the
Allroad concept.
But even at that level of supply it's doubtful anyone who wants an A6
allroad won't be able to
get one.
As with all Audi cars, the A6
allroad quattro comes with a radar - based adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, Audi active lane assist, Audi side assist, night vision, a system that detects when the driver is
getting tired, and a park assist system that enables the A6
allroad quattro to park itself.
The Audi A4
Allroad is available in three trim levels, starting with the Premium Package you
get a comprehensive list of standard convenience features such as power tailgate, rear - view camera, leather seats with the fronts being heated and with 8 - way power settings, key-less start, cruise control, shift paddles, panoramic sunroof and much more.Technology wise you
get a 7.0 - inch MMI infotainment system with smartphone integration (Apple Car Play and Android Auto), Bluetooth streaming, voice control, 10 - speaker audio system and a 5 - inch driver information system.Safety is also taken care of with the Audi pre sense system which includes forward collision mitigation and autonomous braking assist.
Driving Dynamics - The Q7 petrol
gets an adaptive air suspension which offers six driving modes - Auto, Comfort, Dynamic, Individual,
Allroad and Offroad.
It's a comprehensive, and appealing package, and as the full launch of the new E-Class rolls out it should
get even more impressive with new engines, a new E-Class Estate (and probably an «
Allroad» version too), coupes and cabriolets.
