The thing is, I completely get it, for all the reasons you listed — I've
read enough self - published books that obviously weren't
copy edited (or were really, really poorly
copy edited) that I don't buy them anymore unless they were recommended to me or I've
already read by that author, so as a blogger, I certainly wouldn't put in the time without being sure!

It eventually turned out that nerds buy books that they
already know are good, to have a
copy they can
read in the bathtub, scribble on, and put yellow stickies in.
By the time I have
read the clause,
already several
copies, including automated backup
copies, will have been made of the review
copy on several mail servers and backup servers, which are not completely under my control.
In the example where you find an e-reader with e-books
already on it, I don't know of any
copies that you are making, unless you mean wherein it's being
copied to the RAM every time you
read it, but even then, you could find it pre-loaded.
