While the leaky pipeline is a persistent challenge, tech leaders have a responsibility to not only recognize the importance
of diversity in their workforce but
also to champion the
issue internally.
The Kapors, who invested early in Uber, are known in Silicon Valley for both their investing prowess but
also their passion and engagement around
issues of diversity in the tech industry.
The survey
also uncovered broad disagreement over the proper role
of shareholders, industry groups and regulators when it comes to improving corporate reporting and driving change on
issues such as gender
diversity among directors.
Such recommendations must
also include a statement from the recommending stockholder in support
of the candidate, particularly within the context
of the criteria for Board membership, including
issues of character, integrity, judgment,
diversity, age, independence, skills, education, expertise, business acumen, business experience, length
of service, understanding
of the Company's business, other commitments and the like, as well as any personal references and an indication
of the candidate's willingness to serve.

also creating more clear ways staff can lodge complaints about a range

We know that television informs us, a genuine window on the world, but
also that its commercial demand for profit severely limits the amount
of diversity of opinion that is aired, that it tends to trivialize
issues and to represent the views
of the rich, so that through TV the average citizen simply can not get the information needed to make intelligent decisions about living in our democracy.
He is
also a thought leader on human resources in the computer industry, with a focus on discrimination and
diversity issues (including race - and age - based discrimination) and the use
of foreign labor in the U.S. computer industry.
In many cases they
also raise awareness
of diversity issues on campus and help with the recruitment and retention
of minority students and faculty.
Research shows that hiring
diversity managers and launching
diversity task forces
also increase the effectiveness
of other programs, such as employee network groups that help people from underrepresented groups to feel less isolated and
diversity councils that address specific
issues, such as the retention and development
of employees from underrepresented groups.
The OSTP memo
also comes as the United Nations is considering the adequacy
of local, national and international instruments to regulate synthetic biology and whether they provide a comprehensive framework to address
issues like biological
diversity.
Superhero
diversity has been an ongoing
issue for television and film in terms
of not only gender, but
also race and sexual orientation.
For the second year in a row, the media is rightfully outraged by #OscarsSoWhite but it
also marks the third year in a row that a Mexican - helmed film dominates the Oscar conversation, an
issue that barely merits a mention within a discussion that remains — for better and for worse — locked into seeing this in terms
of black and white, sometimes at the expense
of more nuanced visions
of diversity.
She is
also an impassioned voice for equity and
diversity — she helped grow the idea
of a common reading
of Claude Steele's Whistling Vivaldi last summer into a rich, year - long conversation on these
issues.
The Roundtable
also provides skills - based training in areas such as inclusion or social - emotional learning, and a forum for discussion around larger
issues of diversity or education reform that will shape our work moving forward.
Dr. Leider
also collaborates with a group
of teacher educators on addressing
issues of equity and
diversity in ESL and SEI Teacher Education.
While they learn to identify
issues in education for a variety
of students, student partners can
also improve their communication skills and their appreciation for
diversity in action.
A second big idea in this
issue — and
also one with new research behind it — is the value
of socioeconomic
diversity in schools (pp. 10, 38, 50).
We
also offer special initiatives to address top
issues of the times, such as our current focus on school safety and preserving the sanctity
of the classroom, and programming to assist members in advancing
diversity, equity, and inclusion, such as the AACTE Holmes Program and the networked improvement community investigating effective strategies to recruit and retain Black, Hispanic, and Latino men in the teaching profession.
Teacher
diversity also remains an
issue; currently 82 percent
of the teaching force is white.
On the heels
of this news, the publishing industry has taken a keen eye to this
issue, not only in understanding why but
also in considering how to improve the
diversity of publishing professionals.
The purpose
of the series is not only to examine these
issues, but
also to highlight the positive aspects
of diversity that directly correlate with each topic.
Artists in the exhibition not only explore the
diversity in modes
of representation, but
also the vastness
of issues and topics that have risen in the larger social / historical conversation.
Since its opening in March, the exhibition has been widely heralded for its «political charge» (see for example reviews by Peter Schjeldahl in The New Yorker and Jerry Saltz in New York Magazine), for its impressive
diversity of artists included (though I wish this still was not so rare as to be newsworthy), and the controversies surrounding Jordan Wolfson's ultra-graphic Real violence (2017) and
of course the Dana Schutz's painting
of Emmett Till, Open Casket (2016), which not only raised highly problematic
issues around race and its representation in contemporary American art, censorship, and quite interestingly to me at least, the role
of abstraction,
also had the unfortunate side effect
of overshadowing so many stronger inclusions in this year's iteration.
The conference participants, which included a significant percentage
of the country's architectural and urban planning heavyweights,
also discussed
issues such as transportation infrastructure in dense urban fabrics, population
diversity in neighborhoods, open spaces and public buildings in cities, and the connection between high densities and tall buildings.
This
issue also presents a tip for extending the benefits
of summer mentoring programs, three interesting developments in the area
of diversity, four recently published studies that offer significant insights into lawyers» career satisfaction, and some
of my upcoming speaking engagements.
The curriculum
also has mandatory classes on social innovation and the law, Indigenous law, legal innovation, the business
of law, and
issues of diversity in the legal profession.
Issues such as
diversity, attorney - client privilege, conflicts
of interest, and access to justice will
also be examined, as will joint professional development offerings.
She
also spoke
of research that showed that human IQ has increased and that the distribution
of the increase in IQ is focused in urban areas where people have been required to navigate
diversity issues.
In the meantime, other
issues diversity initiatives address should be considered seriously and attention must
also be paid to ensuring work environments are welcoming to and accepting
of minorities already under their employ.
Outside the legal realm she is
also Microsoft Ireland's cultural
diversity lead and a regular guest lecturer and speaker on a variety
of issues, emphasising the impact she has on both the company and a wider in - house legal community.
Dinsmore is on the front line
of this
issue with leadership that includes
Diversity Committee Chairman Marty Dunn,
also recognized in Savoy Magazine's Most Influential Black Lawyers list.

Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment

issues also being explored.
A comprehensive parenting plan
also considers the
diversity and significance
of various parenting
issues.

of psychiatric disorders, while
