If you just need a
tablet, you can spend $ 500 or less on an iPad or
Android slate.
Amazon Fire
tablets are a bit more proprietary than other
Android slates, as they hook directly into Amazon's content ecosystem rather than running raw, unadulterated
Android via the Google Play content platform.
There's no word on pricing yet or those additional specs, but the new Lenovo
Android tablets are
slated for availability from Q2 2013.
A new internal roadmap from Dell has been leaked featuring new
Android and Windows Phone 7 smartphones along with Honeycomb
tablets and the first sighting of a Windows 8 - based
tablet slated for next year.
Google's Nexus line of
slates are easily outperforming it, but they've been on the market much longer, and it looks like Microsoft could overtake that subset of
Android tablets, given time.
The Google
tablet, believed to be called Nexus 7, will be a 7 - inch
slate similar to the Kindle Fire and in all probability will be priced along the lines of the Amazon's popular
