He has received many awards for his work, including 2017 Semi-Finalist, Figurativas Painting & Sculpture Competition, Barcelona Spain, 2012 Finalist, The 4th Annual International Portrait Competition hosted by the Portrait Society of America, «Honorable Mention» in the International 2010 - 2011 ARC Salon, «Honorable Mention» Salmagundi Club 34th Annual Exhibition, 2011 Finalist, Figure Now / Exhibition at Fontebonne University Fine Arts Gallery, St. Louis, Scottsdale Salon of Fine Art Juried Show and Competition, Scottsdale Arizona, 2010 Certificate of Excellence, 12th Annual International Portrait Competition hosted by the Portrait Society of America, 2008 Certificate of Excellence, 10th Annual International Portrait Competition hosted by the Portrait Society of America, Stephen was commissioned to participate in the project entitled «Star Wars: Visions» by George Lucas.
The DMA Art Ball Graduate Student Prize award recipients will be selected by a jury committee composed of the following noted arts professionals: Maxwell L. Anderson (The Eugene McDermott Director, DMA), Frances Colpitt (Deedie Potter Rose Chair of Art History, TCU), Annette Lawrence (Professor, UNT), Gabriel Ritter (The Nancy and Tim Hanley Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art, DMA), and Jeremy Strick (Director, Nasher Sculpture Center).
The prize of $ 7,500 was awarded by a jury of international curators and director, including Sarah McCrory (Director, Glasgow International, U.K.), Pavel Pys (Curator of Visual Arts, Walker Art, Minneapolis, USA) and Gabriel Ritter (Curator of Contemporary Art, Minneapolis Institute of Art, USA).
The prizes were awarded by a jury of leading museum directors and curators including: Suzanne Cotter (Director, Serralves Museum, Porto), Reto Thüring (Curator of Contemporary Art, Cleveland Museum of Art) and Philippe Pirotte (Curator, la Biennale de Montréal 2016 and Director of Städelschule, Frankfurt am Main).
Teixeira is represented in several art collections, and he has been the recipient of a Fulbright Grant, Samuel Booth Award, D'Arcy Hayman Award, Gulbenkian Foundation / FLAD Grant, Fuso Video Festival Jury Prize, and the 2005 EDP New Artists Prize nomination, among others.
