As an agnostic in AA, I found the chapter to which you refer, to be rather a disappointment as it seems to be written only from the perspective of those who were at one point either agnostic or atheist and had consequently found a faith.
I guess you could classify
me as an agnostic in those days, I had no reason to need God, or not need Him.

in general) shouldn't be excluded from the political conversation either,
