Assessing the mastery of individual subskills necessary for eventually meeting the standard as they are
taught is typically referred to as mastery assessment and is frequently
accomplished through unit tests and quizzes.

accomplished this through in - person meetings, site visits, and information sharing.

accomplished educator who coaches other teachers,

teaching for teachers in training.11 According to the Aspen Institute and Leading Educators — a nonprofit organization that partners with schools and districts to promote teacher leadership — teacher leaders can model best practices, observe and coach other teachers, lead teacher teams, and participate in the selection and induction of new teachers.12
To
accomplish this, we need more than valid instruments and tools to
assess teaching.
Assessing thoughtfully means making sure that we
teach students how to
accomplish the rigor embedded in our standards before we hold them accountable for having mastered that rigor, that we use formative assessments that have sufficient instructional traction, and that we give students sufficient time and opportunity to practice and improve before we hold them accountable for having mastered the learning target.
