Assists Animal Caretaker with care of animals in the Club House or Field Station.
To support this, HSP hosts 15 - 18 year old volunteers that
assist our Animal Caretakers with daily duties, opportunities to work in customer service, and working with our Development team, learning how our shelter runs behind the scenes.

Events will include adoption events, low cost & free spay / neuter events, R.E.A.D. dog programs in libraries, dog training classes, scores of blessings for the
animals, youth activities for the
animals, 5k's, special promos for homeless
animals, feral cat workshops, horse events, pet food donations, farm
animal sanctuary events, wildlife camps, bird tours / activities, educational / meet
caretakers presentations, donation drives, and therapy
animals visiting schools, children's hospitals and living -
assisted homes.
The
Animal Caretaker is competent at basic patient monitoring, housekeeping, and
assisting the doctors and nurses.
In addition to the donation to the Houston SPCA, we are actively working on additional avenues of support to
assist Houston area
animals and
caretakers in this time of great need.»
Animal Caretakers are employed by clinics, zoos, shelters and other facilities to offer food and water to
animals, to clean premises, to exercise, transport, and groom
animals, and to
assist veterinarians with treatments.
Most preferred skills for
animal caretaker jobs are abilities to handle all types of
animals, provide obedience training,
assist vets during
animal treatment, customer service, time management, and organization.
