«The results position TRPV4 as a
new target for preventing and treating sunburn, and probably chronic sun damage

Those concerned about global warming (
including at least one
study author) are stressing that a longer evolutionary timeline implies the bears» adaptation to climate change in the past was a slow process (meaning the speed
of change now poses

The
new study, Air quality co-benefits
of carbon pricing in China, published in the journal Nature Climate Change this week, was
authored by four experts from MIT which
included a mix
of economists and atmospheric scientists.
Lead
author James Hansen, NASA Goddard Institute for Space
Studies,
New York, concludes: «If global emissions
of carbon dioxide continue to rise at the rate
of the past decade, this research shows that there will be disastrous effects,
including increasingly rapid sea level rise, increased frequency
of droughts and floods, and increased stress on wildlife and plants due to rapidly shifting climate zones.»
The
study was led by Rachel White and colleagues (
including Angela Duckworth,
author of «Grit») from Hamilton College in
New York state.
The
study's
author suggests various theories for the decline in the success rate,
including that courts are seeking to give greater protection to freedom
of expression; during the 2003 - 13 period, plaintiffs were far more successful in cases involving «
new media» (email or internet), with a 62 % success rate (more than double the success rate for cases between 2003 - 13 considered as a whole).
The
study authors noted that the improved survival rates may come from changes in the management
of advanced lung cancer over the past two decades,
including new chemotherapy agents and regimens, increased use
of salvage chemotherapy and the introduction
of molecularly targeted therapies.
