Lincoln is officially bringing back
the Aviator name for a new SUV that it's going to reveal later this month at the New York Auto Show.
The last time that Lincoln used
the Aviator name it was for the Ford Explorer based SUV that was sold from 2002 to 2005, but it's not known yet if the new SUV will again share its DNA with the Explorer.

the Aviator name on a new crossover.
Lincoln said it will debut its crossover with the resurrected
Aviator name this month at the New York auto show, and it will be based off the redesigned Ford Explorer large crossover.
So it's reviving
the Aviator name (previously used for a rebadged Ford Explorer) for the first of two new utility vehicles it plans to launch through 2020.
