The biggest issue with AAdvantage miles is that the cheapest
awards (Miles SAAver
awards), which are for
travel on American's own flights, are next to impossible to find on most
routes.
Award travel constantly surprises me with possible

Although these miles don't count toward elite status, it's still a good deal considering that Alaska has some of the most generous
routing rules and pricing for
award travel, especially on partners like Cathay Pacific, British Airways, Fiji Airways, and Air France.
As well as that, any airline or alliance that I choose to fly also needs to be one that regularly offers good deals on the
routes I want to fly — as the airlines around the world gradually increase the cost of
award travel it's becoming increasingly important, for those of us with a healthy aversion to Economy Class, to be able to find great value Business Class fares to keep our flights comfortable.
There's only one
route offering Promo
Awards for the Caribbean this month and it's for
travel between Paris Orly and Cayenne in French Guiana... but the promo is pretty good:
The «current rules» that TPG is referencing are the American Airlines AAdvantage
award rules which state that, as long as the origin and destination stay the same, passengers can change their
