Baby Rest Stop is a community outreach project created by the Shelby County Breastfeeding Coalition to provide parents with a shady spot to change diapers and feed children at area festivals.
Other programs include
the Baby Rest Stop, Hospital and Physician Outreach, and the Breastfeeding Workplace Initiative.
Baby Rest Stop is a free diaper changing station and feeding area with a comfortable and restful atmosphere staffed by volunteers from the Shelby County Breastfeeding Coalition.
Baby Rest Stop offers parents a clean, shaded area where they may perform these necessary tasks.

If the bleeding
stops or is light, requires continued bed
rest until
baby is ready for delivery.
And although it might be tempting to slip
baby out of her car seat for a quick feed, use feeding time to pull over at a
rest stop and get a little down time.
Sometimes
babies take a little break and
stop sucking for a few minutes, so make sure he is really done and not just
resting.
The mother should not
stop breastfeeding to «
rest» the breast but should seek medical care for the pain and find ways to ease the pain as the
baby continues to feed from both breasts.
8 month old boy (who's in transition from nursing to formula & solids) 8 am - wake, diaper, nurse for 5 - ish minutes 8:30 am - breakfast in high chair (4 oz bottle + solids) 9:00 - 9:45 ish - play time (independent play then reading books & getting ready for nap) 10am - 11:30 am - morning nap 11:30 - 12 pm - wake up from nap, diaper, get dressed for day, etc ** if we go out to run errands this is the time we leave, and and we will
stop to eat lunch while out 12 pm - lunch (8oz bottle + solids) 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm - play time 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm - afternoon nap 3:30 - 4 pm - play time 4 pm - eat (8oz bottle + snack such as cheerios) 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm - play time (if he woke up early from afternoon nap, then sometimes he still takes a short cat nap during this timeframe 6:30 pm - dinner with family (solids in high chair) 7:00 pm - outdoor play time (
baby swing, take a walk, etc) 8:00 pm - start of an 8oz bottle 8:30 pm - bath time, read books, finish
rest of bottle 9:00 pm - bedtime.
I do understand the
resting argument, although the crying is probably just as stressful as having to carry the
baby around non
stop.
I know there are many proponents of simply letting the
babies cry until they
stop, either to allow some
rest for the parent or to avoid «spoiling» the
baby.
Some accessories can keep your
baby amused even when it
stops for a
rest.
My top 5 items I recommend for a long road trip are:
Baby's favorite toys, the Boppy and a blanket to hang in the window for
rest stops (or for extra shade), diaper disposal bags, bottles with disposable liners / extra nipples.
If the car ride will be longer than three hours, allow for
rest stops every two to three hours so your
baby can be out of the car bed for feeding and care.
With this

baby can now breathe;
stop and
rest then continue feeding without leaks.
Some
babies will never bite, but
rest assured that if your little one is a nibbler, this learned behavior can be
stopped with a little persistence from the mother.
If it
stops working, we'll change something but right now I am enjoying learning through personal experience that there are in fact
babies who enjoy sleep and
rest.

Having said that, and the truth is, sleeping when the
baby sleeps would have required a mysterious state of enlightenment that afforded me the priceless ability to
stop doing and thinking long enough to simply
rest.
James carries his mother to the bathroom, and as her weakness
stops her from being able to stand, she
rests her head on her son's chest, like a
baby to their mother's breast.
