The real positive here is the way to earn Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQDs) through spend on
your Barclaycard Aviator cards.
The Barclaycard Aviator Red it is the grandfathered version of the Barclaycard US Airways card but it's also a new card you can apply for even if you never had the US Airways credit card.
Since I hold the Citi American Airlines Visa (as well as
a Barclaycard Aviator Red / Silver card), I got 10 % of the miles back, so I was out 45,000 miles out - of - pocket.
The Barclaycard Aviator Silver (not currently accepting new applications, thoguh Red card holders may receive an upgrade offer) offers 5,000 EQMs for spending $ 20,000 in a calendar year.
The Barclaycard Aviator Red is very similar to the Citi ® / AAdvantage ® Platinum Select ® World Elite ™ Mastercard ®.
American Airlines mileage credit cards were formerly
the Barclaycard Aviator cards (no longer available for sign up), but are now Citi branded cards.
Additionally,
the Barclaycard Aviator Silver also allows you to earn $ 6,000 Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQDs) after $ 50,000 of spending in 1 calendar year.
It's also currently very easy to get 120,000 AA miles just by applying for both the personal and business versions of the Citi American AAdvantage credit cards (60,000 miles each way) and even more if you go for
the Barclaycard Aviator products.
So if you want to jump on these Citi AA offers or even
the Barclaycard Aviator Red, you should apply pronto because I have a feeling that they are all going to be gone soon.
The Barclaycard Aviator Red is issued as a World Elite MasterCard and comes with a higher level of benefits than the standard World MasterCard.
This card is the most comparable to
the Barclaycard Aviator Red.
The Barclaycard Aviator Silver card carries a $ 199 annual fee, and the Citi AAdvantage Executive card carries a whopping $ 450 annual fee, although it comes with a 50,000 - mile sign - up bonus and Admiral Club Membership.
Unfortunately you can not exceed a total of $ 6,000 EQDs earned from all of
your Barclaycard Aviator cards.
The Barclaycard Aviator Red has practically the exact same benefits.
Not exact matches
Airline cards Co-branded airline cards — such as the American Express Delta SkyMiles, Citi American AAdvantage,

As expected,
Barclaycard just brought down the sign - up bonus of the AAdvantage ®

So you have to decide if you would rather pay the annual fee on the card (
Barclaycard AAdvantage
Aviator Red) or if you would rather not pay an annual fee but spend $ 3,000 in 3 months (Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select).

The
Barclaycard Arrival Plus, the AAdvantage
Aviator Red, and the Wyndham Rewards Visa Card are all in my Top 10 credit cards because they offer great value and two of them come with very easy sign - up bonuses.
Barclaycard has released the online application page for the
Aviator Red Mastercard.
Both the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select MasterCard (annual fee: $ 95, waived first year) and the
Barclaycard AAdvantage

In addition, the two most «premium» versions of
Barclaycard's AAdvantage
Aviator cards are eligible: the Silver and the Red.
We weren't expecting to see any American Airlines - branded cards issued by
Barclaycard until January 2017 at the earliest, so this news is a pleasant surprise — especially since the now - available
Aviator Red card will allow you to earn $ 3,000 in EQD credit by meeting an annual spending threshold.
I suspect we'll see this 50,000 mile offer more often now that
Barclaycard can not issue the US Airways card (now American Airlines
Aviator).
Meanwhile,
Barclaycard administers the AAdvantage
Aviator cards, which were originally US Airways Dividend Miles cards, but you can no longer sign up for these products.
