Fans of previous
Battlefield games will
be impressed, but
be warned: this
game does not have the scope and map size that
made Battlefield 2 so great.
Battlefield 4
is an excellent multiplayer
game that
makes the most of its ambitions, proving once again that destruction
is a valuable strategic addition to competitive combat, which reaches its full potential with two killer Commanders
are bringing out the best in their squads.
Battlefield 1
is a bold reinvention of the
Battlefield series, proving not only that DICE aren't afraid to move in brave new directions, but also that they have a genuine understanding of what
makes a
Battlefield game really tick.
It
's nice to see DICE returning to the roots of what
makes this series so amazing, and I
'm happy that, for the first time in years, a new
Battlefield game doesn't feel like it
is in the middle of an identity crisis.
What
makes it a tactics
game, as opposed to a normal JRPG,
is that the player
is placing and moving units on a grid - like
battlefield.
At about an hour a
game, it
's more of a commitment than the regular
Battlefield contest, but the quickly changing fortunes of virtual war
make it one the best multiplayer modes ever
made.
Not everything about
Battlefield 3 will align with your expectations, but as long as you
're going into it expecting a superb multiplayer experience, then you'll
be absolutely astonished at how much care and effort has
been put into
making Battlefield 3 the
game that it
is.
The trailer
was made by one Michael Horwitz (a professional trailer editor, who has worked on trailers for
games such as The Last of Us, Uncharted 3,
Battlefield Hardline, and more), and used for a sales presentation.
i mean of course the occasional minor patches
are expected but there
is clear difference between a couple minor patches and say
battlefields major patches that keep the
game from crashing and that fix major glitches that just

game worthless till like 6 months after release.

's disappointing that
Battlefield 3
's massive multiplayer with huge amounts of freedom doesn't
make its presence felt on the singleplayer aspect of the
game.
Only one weak point could exist in
Battlefield 3
's armour, and that
's the singleplayer mode, but DICE seem to
be making a large effort to ensure that it
's a better experience that previous
games in the series.
Apocalypse
is a slice of what
made Battlefield 1 such an enjoyable
game; the perfect balance of environmental realism and all - round accessibility
makes for some fantastically frantic gameplay, real «
Battlefield» moments that
are hard to find elsewhere in the mainstream.
One of the biggest changes comes in the form of a massive overhaul on how weapons handle, all thanks to DICE, the creators of the
Battlefield games, who
were brought in during the
game's development to help Bioware understand how to
make more meaty feeling weapons and how rounds travelled through the air.
Battlefield 4
is one of the few
games I can think of where each new update, supposed to fix and mend what
was broken, seemed to
be making the
game worse as more and more players found themselves unable to even play the

Jets also
make a rather welcome return to the
Battlefield series, although the fact that consoles get considerably fewer players per
game (24, compared to the PC's 64) it can
make the jets feel a little pointless as trying to take out a player on the ground can
be a bit of a struggle for anyone that isn't willing to dedicate their life to becoming the next Top Gun, but they
are bloody useful for taking out tanks, helicopters and, in the case of some bad flying skills, any offending building, tower, tree or mountain.

be surprising to see a
Battlefield game drop the season pass structure.
Call of Duty WW2 met with great acclaim and held many charts for a long time,
making it one of the more successful Call of Duty
games in recent years and with rumors of the next
Battlefield game also taking place in World War 2, it will
be a good change of pace for the 2 renowned shooters to go back to their roots and bring back everyone's favorite era of warfare.
Even though the maps
are smaller in scale when compared to previous
Battlefield games, the verticality of the included maps
makes up for the smaller combat zones.
The campaign could've
been something unique and pretty damn good, but ultimately it
's the narrative that fails here; the solid voice acting, gritty feel, and overall excellent sound design (pro-tip:
Make sure to turn on the audio setting «War Tapes») that
Battlefield games excel at can't save the mediocre final product.
While the beta
is just a snippet of what we can expect when the
game launches on October 21st later this year, and despite a talented developer with the pedigree of Visceral, I have some reservations about
Battlefield: Hardline that
make me wonder if this really warrants a full retail purchase.
